Me, Rachel Swailes. My blog about stuff I get up to in and around the Western Cape, Cape Town, George, Wilderness, Hermanus and other cool places :)

We drove back from the Cango Wildlife Park in Oudtshoorn on what must have been the hottest day of December. But thanks to the heat, the pass was beautifully clear and we got some photos as we came back through to George.

I was glad we got to travel it on such a clear day. I don’t travel this route often and the last time it was completely cloudy so I had to concentrate on the road instead of what little view there was.

As a family we used to holiday in Wilderness while we still lived in Joburg. I remember getting to this point in the journey were Ruth and I were both irritable from the drive and probably harassing my mom no end. Then we’d get further along and see the sea.

This view (apart from the stop for Dad to get slap chips somewhere remote) was always the absolute best part of the trip down.
