On Friday night we hiked up to the paragliders launch pad on Lion’s Head to see Comet McNaught. We went up super early and watched the sunset and waited for the comet to show but it was at least half an hour after sunset before we started to see it.

Quite a beautiful thing to see! My camera isn’t quite kitted out for these kind of photos, but from wikipedia this is another photo taken that night. We were sitting on the mountain in the picture and our view of the comet, cloud and Venus was the same.

I was also amazed to see how many cars had stopped along Kloof Neck to watch it. For a few days this year, people the world over have had something positive in common.
